If your device battery is draining faster than expected, follow the steps below to check its health and improve performance.
1. Check your battery health
iOS devices
Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health
Check the percentage shown next to Maximum Capacity
80% or above means your battery is in good condition
If your battery was replaced by a third party, you may see a message such as “Unknown Part” or a warning message
This is normal and does not affect how your device works
Android devices
Download AccuBattery from the Google Play Store
Open the app and go to the Health tab
Review your battery health percentage (%)
A healthy battery is designed to retain around 80% capacity after 500 full charge cycles under normal use
The Battery Wear section shows daily wear in a graph
AccuBattery recommends charging up to 80% to slow long-term battery wear
Note: The app needs around 4–5 days of use to collect accurate data. Battery health readings will improve over time as the app learns your usage habits.
2. Optimise your phone settings
Making small changes to your settings can significantly improve battery life:
Lower your screen brightness or enable auto-brightness
Turn off push notifications for non-essential apps
Disable location services for apps that don’t need them
Switch off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS when not in use
Use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data where possible
Limit or turn off background app refresh
3. Improve your charging and usage habits
Avoid exposing your phone to very hot or cold temperatures
Do not use your phone heavily while it is charging
Use an original or certified charger and cable
Try not to let your battery drain to 0% too often
Keep your phone and apps up to date with the latest software versions
By following these steps, you can help extend your battery’s lifespan and enjoy longer usage between charges. If battery performance continues to worsen, your device may need a battery replacement or further support.
