If your device’s camera zoom feature isn’t working properly, follow these steps to help resolve the issue.
1. Close apps running in the background
Sometimes other apps can interfere with the camera. Force-closing apps can help.
iOS devices
iPhone with Face ID:
From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom and pause in the middle of the screen.
Swipe left or right to find the app you want to close.
Swipe up on the app preview to close it.
iPhone without Face ID:
Double-press the Home button to view recently used apps.
Swipe left or right to find the app you want to close.
Swipe up on the app preview to close it.
Android devices
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold briefly, then release.
Swipe left or right to browse open apps.
Tap Clear all (usually at the left or bottom of the screen) to close all apps.
2. Update your software
Keeping your device software up to date can fix camera issues.
iOS devices
Back up your device using iCloud or a computer.
Connect your device to a power source and Wi-Fi.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
If multiple updates appear, select the one you want to install.
Note: With iOS 15 and later, the camera zoom issue has been fixed outside of Japan and South Korea.
Android devices
Go to Settings > System > System update.
Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install any available updates.
Following these steps should resolve most camera zoom issues. If the problem continues, your device may require further support or repair.
