If your device’s camera isn’t working properly, follow these steps to help resolve the issue.
1. Restart your device
Restarting your device can fix temporary software glitches.
iOS devices
Press and quickly release the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button.
Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
Android devices
Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down button together for 7–10 seconds.
2. Check your camera and flash
Remove any cases or accessories that might block the camera or flash.
Gently clean the camera lens using a microfibre cloth.
iOS only: Test the LED flash via Control Centre.
Android only: Reset the Camera app or clear its cache via Settings > Apps > Camera > Storage & cache > Clear cache.
3. Close apps running in the background
Closing apps can stop other apps from interfering with the camera.
iOS devices
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle.
Swipe left or right to find the app and swipe up on the preview to close it.
Android devices
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold briefly.
Swipe left or right to browse open apps and tap Clear all.
4. Check your storage
Low storage can prevent your camera from working correctly.
iOS devices
Go to Settings > General > Storage to check available space.
Android devices
Go to Settings > Storage to see your storage usage.
Following these steps should help fix most camera issues. If the problem continues, your device may need further support or repair.
